Taking a Course For Category A1

Theoretical lessons
Sigma Aerospace College offers courses that include all the theory training requirements for progressing to licensing as a pilot. The theory lessons are a crucial part of the class in category A1. To be able to take the theory test, you must attend 12 90-minute theory lessons. The number of lessons you take may differ based on how well you're learning.

Practical lessons
The course for A1 category prepares students for a practical test on motorcycles. This course is intended for those who want to ride a moped or small motorbike that has a capacity of up to 125cc. The practical lessons include the theory and practice of basic riding techniques. The course lasts for minimum four hours. Students who wish to pass the test must have completed at minimum nine hours of training under the guidance of an instructor.
The practical lessons for the A1 category are divided into sections. The first is a theory lesson on the basic rules of driving. The next part is a road course where students will learn the techniques that will be tested during the Mod 1 test. The final lesson is an exam that lasts about 15 minutes. During the test the student is required to execute various manoeuvres whether on Federal or Country roads. The student will also have to complete a specific number of special routes for example, driving in the rain and at night or before dawn.
In addition to the theoretical and practical classes students must also pass a written exam. This exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. The exam must be passed with scores of at least 41 points. The test is not difficult, however many students are nervous about passing it. Students should practice as much as they can in order to feel more confident.
After completing the practical course, the student may take the Mod 1 test to obtain the permit to drive motorcycles of category A1. The permit permits the student to ride on public roads with an accompanying passenger. The permit is required from the Strassenverkehrsamt. The process may differ from one canton to the next however, it usually takes several weeks or days to obtain the permit.

Theory test

Practical test
